Monthly Budget
Compare the money you expect with what actually comes in and goes out.
Enter take-home income, expenses, and saving transfers as positive amounts. Use Type Income, Expense, or Saving.
Replace the illustrative rows and add your categories. Enter zero for a confirmed zero; leave unknown actuals blank.
A positive expense difference means you spent more than planned. A positive income difference means you received more.
Review the remaining cash amounts and name one adjustment for next month.
This is a spending-account budget, not a net-worth statement. Savings transfers are money assigned outside the spending account. Avoid counting a credit-card purchase and its later repayment twice in the same spending analysis. Choose a consistent method. Totals cover rows 2:28. Insert rows inside this range or update the formulas when extending.

The target is a planning choice, not a universal recommendation. The estimate ignores interest, withdrawals, inflation, and changing contributions. All money inputs should be nonnegative. Target months may be fractional.

Use Monday as the week start and list one row per week.
Count only money available for this spending plan in opening cash.
Keep confirmed receipts separate from income you merely expect.
For each later row, copy the previous closing cash into opening cash or link it after the previous week is complete.
Test a lower-income plan by setting uncertain receipts to zero.
A monthly average does not guarantee cash arrives before a bill. Negative floor differences flag a gap against your chosen buffer. Do not include the same reserve funds in opening spending cash and separate savings.

Operating surplus is before income tax and any owner labor not included in costs. The model assumes a stable price and cost per sale. Mixed offers need a separate combined model. No contribution means this price does not cover the modeled variable cost.

Enter available opening cash and the dates cash is expected to move.
Customer cash receipts are payments received, not invoices issued.
For later weeks link opening cash to the previous closing cash; update forecasts after each actual week.
Keep transfers outside the modeled account scope visible and avoid counting internal transfers twice.
Move a large receipt two weeks later to see whether the plan can still meet its cash floor.
Loan proceeds belong in Other cash in and are not sales revenue. Debt principal and equipment purchases affect cash even when accounting expense timing differs. A cash forecast does not calculate taxable profit.
