When a market session is confirmed, use 209 South Main Street as your destination. Ask sellers about the goods actually available that day. Consider another Main Street stop separately, after checking its opening arrangements.

Halifax on a useful scale: Main Street, the market and Mountain Road

Sources checked 2026-09-20. An original planning guide; confirm current access, opening times and any booking directly.

Read the Halifax guide

Halifax offers several concrete starting points along South Main Street: Molasses Grill at number 63, the Halifax library branch at 177 and the farmers market at 209. Use those addresses to decide which stops fit your purpose, then check each destination’s arrangements separately. Their shared street does not establish a common schedule or a ready-made walking route. A useful outing might centre on shopping, a library errand or a meal, with another stop added only when it fits.

The town describes Halifax Farmers Market as a place for produce, food and handmade goods. Treat that as an introduction to the market, not a live inventory. Confirm a session before traveling and ask vendors about what they actually have that day. If you are shopping for a particular meal or need a specific quantity, build in an alternative. Think about how you will carry purchases home, especially if the market is the first stop in a longer day.

For a library visit, make sure your plans point to the Halifax branch rather than the South Boston branch of the same system. The county’s facilities directory identifies the Halifax location at 177 South Main Street. Contact the branch about the service or material you need, particularly when the trip depends on a specific item. The library’s website provides another connection to the system, but an old announcement on a website should not become an assumption about today’s arrangements.

Molasses Grill provides a dining option at 63 South Main Street. Use the restaurant’s own information when choosing a meal, and contact it directly for reservations or dietary questions. Menus can help a group decide whether a restaurant suits its plans, but a sample dish or older menu is not a guarantee of availability. Once you have confirmed the meal arrangements, place the other parts of your outing around them and allow some flexibility rather than scheduling every minute.

The Mountain Road Historic District adds an opportunity to notice Halifax’s built history. Virginia’s Department of Historic Resources describes the district west of the courthouse, with buildings dating from the early nineteenth through the middle of the twentieth century. Look at building forms and architectural details from lawful public space. Many properties are private homes, so inclusion in a historic district does not invite entry. Choose your route and distance for your group, the conditions and the access you actually encounter.

Water access needs a separate, current check. On September 20, 2026, Virginia DWR listed the Banister Lake boat ramp as closed until further notice because of low water and safety conditions. Do not build a boating plan from a general tourism description without checking that alert. The town’s events calendar can help identify another possibility for your chosen date. These sources were checked on September 20, 2026; the proposed combinations are planning ideas, not a timed tour or a promise that every stop is available.

How discovery and sponsorship work

Featured positions are paid advertising. Gretna first ranks Gretna, its nearby communities, the rest of Pittsylvania County, then the wider region. Within each area, results rotate hourly; highlighted profiles receive 1–4× weight according to their paid bid. Ratings, review counts, community votes and names control their own sort options. Each signed-in member can upvote or downvote once per listing, change direction or remove their vote. Votes do not change star reviews or replace reports of a problem. All profiles, including sponsors, must match your filters. Stars summarize approved Junction reviews and are never for sale.

Each listing is assigned by its address. Public-source listings remain unclaimed until ownership is confirmed.
