George H. W. Bush served in the Navy during World War II and later represented Texas in Congress. He held diplomatic and intelligence posts before serving as vice president under Ronald Reagan. His presidency coincided with the end of the Cold War and the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Bush also led the U.S. response to Iraq's invasion of Kuwait. He served from 1989 to 1993.
