Dwight D. Eisenhower commanded Allied forces in Europe during World War II and later led Columbia University and NATO's military command. He won the presidency in 1952 and again in 1956. His administration governed during the Korean armistice and major Cold War confrontations. Eisenhower also sent federal troops to enforce school desegregation in Little Rock. His presidency lasted from January 1953 to January 1961.
