In an update dated August 31, the Town says its water plant continues to meet Virginia Department of Health requirements. The added flushing is a response to customer reports about taste, not a new declaration that the water system has failed a health standard.

Flushing can temporarily change water color or cloudiness at a particular address. Residents who notice an issue should record the time and location, follow the Town's current instructions, and contact the Town directly rather than sending health or account information to this newsroom.

Why it matters

The new notice replaces the July emergency as the current water-service update and gives residents dates they can act on.

  • Extra flushing: Sept. 3–4
  • Monthly flushing continues at the beginning of each month
  • Town says plant water meets VDH requirements

Use the Town notice for the latest schedule and report address-specific taste, color or cloudiness directly to the Town.
